5 don't-miss attractions at Epcot
If your focus is food and wine, here are five Epcot attractions you still shouldn't miss, says Len Testa, co-author of ``The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World.'' He recommends seeing them in this order to reduce your waits in lines:
1. Soarin': This hang-glider simulation over California, almost certainly Disney World's most popular attraction, is in Future World. Great for small children and seniors. Ask to sit in the top row for a better view.
2. Sum of All Thrills: Located in Future World's Innoventions East pavilion, this new attraction is a roller coaster simulator built on top of a giant robotic arm. Kids and adults can choose their own twists, turns, dips and loops using a tabletop computer, then board the robotic arm to experience what they've built.
3. Spaceship Earth: It's a tribute to Disney's storytelling skills that an attraction describing the history of human communications is still one of the most popular attractions in the park. Plus, riding inside the golf ball-like geosphere is just cool.
4. The American Adventure: At the U.S. pavilion in World Showcase. The American Adventure tells the story of our country's birth, growing pains and ascendancy to world superpower. Intensely patriotic without being overly political. Contains some of Disney World's most elaborate animatronics and best music.
5. IllumiNations: Epcot's nighttime fireworks, fountains and laser show, set in the middle of World Showcase Lagoon. Our pick as the best nighttime show in Walt Disney World, especially for adults. Keep an eye on the giant globe in the middle of the show, which is a combination LED television, water fountain and flame-shooting boat. How the designers got this past Disney's notoriously tightwad accountants is still a mystery.

"It's easy to put up a website that contains information about walt disney world map. What's more difficult is to create a resource that actually helps the visitor find out exactly what they want, both quickly and easily. I purposely designed the website from scratch for that very purpose".As there is so much information available online, it's not always easy to get to the bottom of a subject - and walt disney world map is no different.

Walt Disney World vacation with kids
Here's a great article on preparing for a Walt Disney World vacation with kids:
In December, my parents announced that they were taking my family to Disney World in October. It would be my kids first trip to Disney. My oldest was 8 at the time and the twins were 6. They were excited but they really did not understand what to expect. They kept making comparisons to Six Flags which seemed silly but what could they compare it to? Not much compares to the Disney World experience so it was time to introduce them to all to the Disney magic.
First, I went onto the Walt Disney World vacation planning site and selected customized maps. Here I chose all of my favorite attractions to be highlighted on the maps. I made one for each park - the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom. Disney will send you the set of customized maps once every 6 months. Of course, having three kids I needed three sets. So, I repeated this at my parent's house and at my in-laws. A couple of weeks later all three sets arrived and I was ready to give them to the kids. The maps are beautiful - written on thick parchment paper they resemble old fashioned treasure maps. The kids went wild over them. They each sat down pouring over the maps and asking what each of the rides were that I had marked. Also included was a map of the whole Disney World complex. They were finally beginning to comprehend how big the whole place was.
I had also ordered from the Disney World website a current Disney World Vacation Planning DVD. As a family, we all sat down to watch it. And not for the vacation planning information - that was done already. But now the kids could put the pictures and sights to the names they had seen on the maps. Certain parts were watched a couple of times and now they were really starting to feel the magic and the excitement.
Next, I bought Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids - basically a travel book aimed at kids for them to read. I started by reading aloud from it before bed to all three kids. They really liked all the descriptions of the rides. It rated them by fun factors and scariness and gave any height restrictions. Soon, my oldest took over the book reading it every night before bed. He even did a book report for school on it. By the time we left for vacation, he had everything he wanted to see memorized. (He still won't give up that book.)
As the summer progressed, I dug out all the old Disney cds that I had played for them when they were little. We would listen to them in the car and the kids would have to guess which movie the song was from and who was singing. It was a great way to get familiar with all the classic characters. We also started re-watching all the Disney movies. My oldest is still disappointed that I can't find a copy of Song of the South to watch.
The last thing I did was order matching Disney t-shirts for everybody. The kids had heard all about the Disney trip that my extended family had taken when I was in high school. 20 people all wearing the same red shirts. This time I found matching Mickey & Minnie Mouse t-shirts for everyone. Armed with autograph books, pens, maps and all that information in their heads they were ready to meet Mickey Mouse. And I knew all the prep time was worth it, when we walked on to Main Street for the first time and R.J. said, "Lets go left to Adventure Land."

Walt Disney World Presents 15th Annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival opens Oct. 1 with the theme, “Celebrating 15 Years of Delicious Discoveries.” But don’t get the impression that means the fest merely will be a six-week stroll down a culinary memory lane.
Rather, the 15th annual festival Oct. 1-Nov. 14 will combine the familiar with sipping-and-nibbling adventures to places yet unexplored. To Belgium. To South Korea. To charcuterie and cheese. To an event where the main course is a “sweet tooth’s” dream. To signature dining adventures where they’ve never been before. To music concerts by artists who’ve never stepped onto the America Gardens Theatre stage before.
Even before the first pour of the festival, “new” will be the word of the day during the first-ever First Bites Opening Reception on Sept. 30, the eve of the festival opening. There’ll be epicurean samplings from some of the festival’s 27 International Marketplaces, Wine Seminars, Culinary Demonstrations, merchandise locations, celebrities and entertainment – a true sneak peek of the festival during an upscale, reservation-only evening in the Festival Welcome Center.

How to keep Cool at Walt Disney World
Sweltering Walt Disney World summer days seem a lot more bearable when we mist and fan and cool off – and we’ve been known to ride Pirates of the Caribbean multiple times, sip most of the flavors at Club Cool at Epcot, aimlessly browse in the Animation Gallery at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or hope to get extra wet at Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Soaring temperatures are the perfect excuse for cold treats. Really cold treats. And all four theme parks have plenty, but we have a favorite in each park.
What is your favorite sweet treat to cool off?
Our picks:
Magic Kingdom. Hands down, the Pineapple Float with pineapple Dole Whip and pineapple juice at Aloha Isle in Adventureland. Maybe a tart, juicy pineapple spear on the side just for good measure (and a healthy dose of Vitamin C). Find a shady spot and enjoy a taste of childhood.
Epcot. A toss-up between a brain-freezing shaved ice with fruit syrup (tangerine is our favorite) at the Kaki Gori kiosk at the Japan Pavilion or a mango margarita from the kiosk at Mexico Pavilion. A perfect spot for cooling off is the “Spirited Beats” exhibit in the tiny museum at the back of the Japan Pavilion that explores the anime (Japanese animation) mania. Cool and quiet.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Peanut-butter-and-jelly milkshake. Need we say more? Ever since the 50’s Prime Time Cafe opened, we dream of this calorie and carb-laden delight. Late afternoon, slip into the adjacent Tune-In Lounge, take a seat at the bar and order your shake. It’s an oasis of sweet sanity on a hot day. The calories may force you to skip dinner.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For grown-ups a cold Safari Amber Beer under the thatched roof at Dawa Bar in Africa with live African music is a delightful way to forget the heat. Or a frozen cappuccino from Royal Anadapur Tea Company in Asia . . . either way, you can cool off more at Kali River Rapids or just hang out in the gorilla area of the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail – we can spend hours watching these marvelous creatures in the lush vegetation.

Disney World offers passholders screening of ‘Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue’
Great news for pass holders from Kristin Ford at The Daily Disney.
For the third consecutive year, Walt Disney World passholders will be able to see an advance screening of the newest direct-to-DVD Tinker Bell movie.
Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue will be shown at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and 12 at Hollywood Studios. For the past two years, screenings have been in Magic Kingdom’s Exhibition Hall, but it looks like renovations have forced the change in venue.
This preview is for passholders only, and seating is limited to those who reserve it online at Disney’s passholder website. Adults can claim children ages 3 to 17 as their guests when making reservations, but the kids still must be passholders and show valid passes and the confirmation slip at the time of check-in. This is a welcome change and should help many families who were frustrated by the tedious reservation process in the past that required each family member to log in and reserve a seat. (Children younger than 3 must sit on an adult’s lap.)

Is Epcot Getting a New Country?
Epcot Getting New Country?
Spain could be moving in between France and Morocco
Epcot, Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, FL 08/12/10 - By: Brandon Bushman -
© COASTER-net.com
France: New Spain pavilion would likely reside by France.
Having completed an overhaul to Tomorrowland in 2009 and with work just underway on an expansion of Fantasyland at Walt Disney World, it seems their plans are never-ending. It would appear the park is considering adding a twelfth country to the World Showcase lineup, with Spain as the likely candidate.
There is a large enough space in between the France and Morocco pavilions to accommodate a new one in between them. Many will not remember or know this, but Spain was actually one of the countries considered for Epcot when it was being developed, but like Australia, Russia, Venezuela, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates, the countries didn’t have enough interest in sponsoring a pavilion at the time.
In a related note, Disney has also gotten permission to build a Monsters Inc. Roller coaster to be built at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the 2014 season. No details have been released, but some fans are excited that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster may have some competition, but given the theme, it will more likely be a family-oriented coaster.

There is more to Orlando than Walt Disney World
Orlando is one of the top tourism destinations in the world. It features Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World. People come from every continent to take in these famous theme parks, and especially to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.
But there is another Orlando, a city full of unexpected smaller attractions, that you might want to take in when you want something a little different or just a break from the crowds at Disney World.
Kissimmee Rodeo.
No, that’s not a misprint. The rodeos of the west have come to the south-east and they are just as much fun. Try this for something different.
Inland manatees. Want to stay at an Official Walt Disney World Resort with pricing for every budget? Visit the Regal Sun Resort located directly across the street from Downtown Disney in Lake Buena Vista. This is another hidden resort gem in Orlando that features a Disney Character Breakfast every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
People often forget that Florida is more than just one big theme park and the host to spring break excess. It is also home to many natural wonders. Blue Spring State Park is tucked in between Orlando and Daytona Beach. Although it is an inland park, they have 153 manatees this season, more than ever before.
Mystery Dinner.
Half way between Orlando and Disney World, it’s no mystery why this show packs a full house. This is your chance to participate in a real murder mystery
Farm Animal Adventure.
Every child loves to pet animals. No, it does not replace Walt Disney World, but it might make a nice little break in the middle of the Disney excitement, and it is just a short distance south of the Disney park.
Ahoy there, Captain.
Not just the manatees have found their way inland. There are pirates in Orlando, and they offer an interactive family dinner spectacle.
Riverboat Cruise.
It’s not the Mississippi, but the “Rivership Romance” cruises along the St. Johns River, providing a first-hand connection with Florida’s rich, natural heritage. Dining and dancing accompany the natural beauty.
A taste of Chicago.
Don’t be surprised if you wind up eating with a gangster or two. Or if the police burst in on your dinner to make a bust. This is a living tribute to the legendary Gangland Chicago, and you are invited to participate in the action.
It’s a pity that these gems hide in the shadow of Planet Earth’s biggest theme park . You won’t want to miss Walt Disney World, but take some time out to see what others have missed. Your friends back home will be impressed.

Walt Disney World has two amazingly-themed water parks in Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach that just happen to be the two most-attended water parks in the world, according to the most recent attendance report from the Themed Entertainment Association and AECOM Economics. In fact, they’ve been in the top two spots for a very long time, for very good reasons.
The two parks, in addition to having a tremendous capacity and a location right in the heart of Walt Disney World, have great theming, thrilling water slides, relaxing wave pools and lazy rivers, good food and more.
Typhoon Lagoon, the mythology goes, was created when Hurricane Connie blew through Walt Disney World decades ago, tossing the shrimp boat Miss Tilly, out of Safen Sound, Florida, onto the top of Mt. Mayday. More wreckage was strewn about the area, decorating the area around the “ramshackle shacks” that make up the dining and merchandise locations for the park. Water continues to pour down the sides of Mt. Mayday, where the streams have been repurposed into water slides.
From the straight-drop slides of the Humunga Kowabunga to the Storm Slide body slides called the Jib Jammer, Stern Burner and Rudder Buster to the single-rider raft rides of Mayday Falls and Keelhaul Falls and family raft ride Gangplank Falls, thrills are definitely not lacking at Typhoon Lagoon. And the recent addition of the Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster lets you experience the excitement of a roller coaster with the splash of a raft ride.
If you’d like something a little more relaxing, Castaway Creek is a lazy river that winds its way around the park with multiple entrances that let you use the river to get around the park. The 2.5-acre Typhoon Lagoon wave pool periodically alternates between gentle bobbing waves and body surfing waves, with Miss Tilly’s stack whistling to warn you of the change. Of course, the little ones can enjoy Ketchakiddie Creek’s kid-sized water slides, fountains and more.
Still not enough? Wander over to Hammerhead Fred’s where you can borrow snorkeling gear and swim through Shark Reef along with butterfly fish, tangs, groupers, French angels, and – oh yeah – nurse sharks. But don’t worry, the gentle nurse sharks are well-fed so that they will have no interest in you. Not up for getting in the 362,000 gallon salt-water tank with the sharks? You can walk through the keel of a “wrecked” ship and look out at the swimmers, fish and sharks in the tank through portholes.
A slightly more thrilling adventure awaits at Blizzard Beach. Also supposedly created by a weather cataclysm, the park started when a freak winter storm dropped a huge amount of snow in the area. Work quickly began on Florida’s first ski resort. However, plans were abandoned when the snow began melting. When a resort operator spotted “Ice Gator” sliding down a ski run, the plans were hastily changed to create a ski-themed water park. Ice Gator remains a park mascot.
The ski jump down Mt. Gushmore was turned into the Summit Plummet water slide, where you’ll go up to 55 mph on your way down. Adjacent to that is the Slush Gusher, which takes a slightly slower plunge down the mountain. But there are so many other different ways to race down the mountain.
Three Snow Stormer body slides let you race down the mountain, while you can head down in an inner tube on the three Runoff Rapids slides. Families can take a six-passenger raft down Teamboat Springs, the world’s longest family raft ride at 1,200 feet. Wanna race? The 8-lane Toboggan Racer and the 2-lane Downhill Double Dipper let you race your friends down Mt. Gushmore’s slopes.
Getting too tired to climb back to the top? What good ski resort doesn’t have its own chair lift? Take a pleasant ride up to the peak on a bench seat under an umbrella. Want something even calmer? Blizzard Beach’s lazy river is called, appropriately enough, Cross Country Creek. Again, you can use it to travel around the park in addition to just riding it around. The 1-acre wave pool of Melt-Away Bay has only gentle bobbing waves, none of Typhoon Lagoon’s surfing waves.
Wee ones can enjoy Tike’s Peak, with tiny-sized water slides, spray cannons and more water fun. For the slightly older crowd, there’s Ski Patrol Training Camp, which has bigger slides, a T-bar drop, and even a walk across mini-“ice floes” with a cargo net overhead to help keep your balance.
Both parks also feature several eateries and merchandise locations, lockers, and shady spots with lounge chairs and tables. To get the prime spots, though, you need to get there when the parks open first thing in the morning. If you’d rather not wait and would prefer to pay for a premium spot with amenities, you can rent one of six Polar Patios at Blizzard Beach or one of six Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon. Those spots include upgraded furniture, towels, a private locker, all-day drink mugs, a cooler with ice and bottled water, and a private waiting who will go to the food locations for you and bring back your order. Pricing varies by date and time, please visit here Tickets for pricing.
