France: New Spain pavilion would likely reside by France.
Having completed an overhaul to Tomorrowland in 2009 and with work just underway on an expansion of Fantasyland at Walt Disney World, it seems their plans are never-ending. It would appear the park is considering adding a twelfth country to the World Showcase lineup, with Spain as the likely candidate.
There is a large enough space in between the France and Morocco pavilions to accommodate a new one in between them. Many will not remember or know this, but Spain was actually one of the countries considered for Epcot when it was being developed, but like Australia, Russia, Venezuela, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates, the countries didn’t have enough interest in sponsoring a pavilion at the time.
In a related note, Disney has also gotten permission to build a Monsters Inc. Roller coaster to be built at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the 2014 season. No details have been released, but some fans are excited that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster may have some competition, but given the theme, it will more likely be a family-oriented coaster.
